So after three trips to Busan, I feel like I owe it a post! My first trip to Busan back in April was filled with more touristy activities as the weather was not quite hot enough for the beach. The second time, a group of us went for my birthday, the weather was a little better. We were able to lie on the beach - keeping our dresses on mind - and it was not hot enough to go in the sea! Third time lucky - our last trip to Busan was a total success. It was even hot enough for a little dip in the sea.
Every trip to Busan I booked a hostel in the Haeundae beach area as our main priority was to go to the beach (even if we were not always successful). I stayed in a different hostel each time. None of them were disappointing.
During the first visit back in April I stayed in Hi! Korea Hostel. There were four of us this time. The room was very small but each bed had its own curtain so if you were staying in a group dormitory you could still feel like you had your own private space.
On our second stay their were more of us and it was all girls. I decided to try out Miss Egg . We booked a room for 8 of us in a private dorm. It was a little quiet and there were a few young children staying there. We had some predrinks in our private room but made sure we left by 11pm so there were no complaints.
This time we stayed in Hello Guesthouse. This time we spent a few thousand one more. I'm not sure if this was because the hostel was a bit nicer, more spacious and more lively, or if it was because it is now summer vacation. Either way it was worth the little bit extra.
I would recommend all of the hostels but Hello Guesthouse was definitely the best of the three. It even offered free breakfast!!!
First trip to Busan
The weather was dull and rainy so going to the beach seemed a little pointless. We took a little trip to Hyewon temple . We spent a little while wondering around and just as it was getting dark some lovely women invited us inside. They had us pray with them and gave us a little snack and vitamin drink. We sat and watched them prepare flowers for about 45 minutes. It was a nice little experience but got a little bit awkward towards the end as they couldn't speak any english and my korean is extremely basic! We decided to visit this temple as we had been told it had lots of lanterns. It was such a pretty sight.

We also visited the UN memorial cemetery and Beomosa temple.
Second trip to Busan
This time I thought we would be more lucky with the weather. It was a lot warmer but cloudy! So we headed for the beach anyway. The water was freezing! The following picture says it all.

Despite the weather being a little bit disappointment, the girls and I had a great weekend. I discovered Sharky's. A little bar/food place who do the most amazing killer burgers! I tried the avocado and bacon burger. It was the best thing ever.
Third and Final trip to Busan
Finally - perfect beach weather. We took a taxi from the bus terminal (quite pricey but worth it for extra beach time) Quick change at the hostel. Another trip to Sharky's for the perfect burger and onto the beach for an afternoon of sun followed by a night out. This time I had the guacamole burger at Sharky's - it was amazing. I liked it even more than the avocado and bacon.

This time we spent both Saturday and Sunday lying on the beach attempting to get a sun tan. It was such a perfect, relaxing weekend made even better by the fact that by the end of the weekend I had a new flat in Aberdeen confirmed!
So that was my last and final trip to Busan! I have a quiet but busy two weeks ahead of me as it is time to start wrapping up life in Korea!
Hope you enjoy the post!
